Hardware sketching

interaction%20lab_02.jpg

interaction%20lab.jpg

These last week and a half we've been living in the dungeons of the design school, in the
interaction workshop -- the room noone ever heard about -- maybe because it's brand new!

There we had a brief introduction to soldering and then started to explore with two Toolkits,
Phidgets and Arduino microcontrollers and sensors. So far has been a very intereting experience.
Although theArduino components offer more possibilities, the Phidgets (sometimes)give more
immediate results. Soon we'll produce a functional prototype using this recently acquired knowledge.

More details on the group work on the Interaction class blog.

Mind the Steps!!

london_atsametime.jpg

So, finally we came to conclude the London Experience assigment and this is our installation.
A collage of images displaying the multitude of colors, cultures and possibilities that we found in
London. A showcase of the world, all at the same time. The localization of the instalation has also a
meaning: this staircase is the hub that connects places inside the school, just as London does in the world,
and the placement of the myriad of images on both sides of the steps alludes to cubism, showing all
the sides of an object at the same time, because this was our impression of the city, a place that has
everything, and at the same time. In the picture, the workgroup: Me (with the hat), Fredrik (top) and Haishu.

Walking in London...

London_2.jpg

it was just a weekend... never enough when it's about London, but I managed to get some nice
images, and to get some inspiration to answer the question: what's London's visual language?
If you have any suggestions, leave a comment!

London Calling

london.jpg

One of the greates thing about Umeå Design School: you get to travel. We (product and interaction
master students) are going to London for some days for a study in visual language. The ojective is to
understand and capture london's style, later translating it into some kind of form or interactive
graphic. Wait for the results, I'll post in a couple of weeks.

Published!

Nimes.jpg

Yesterday I got a request from a modern architecture website to publish one of my pictures,
this one from Nîmes, showing the Maison Carre, 2000 years old, and Le Carree d'Art,
by Norman Foster, (20 years old). It's impressive how well the two buildings go together,
both being enhanced or intensified by the contrast, and not diminished.
